Artists Statement
Born and raised in South Africa, Camilla’s creative journey began with a four-year higher diploma in Textile Design. She spent years designing artwork for apparel and homewares, before transitioning into account management and product development. Her professional career took a new direction in 2003 when she and her husband immigrated to Australia, where Camilla continued her work in product development.
However, it wasn’t until 2007, when her son was born, that Camilla’s path shifted toward her true passion for art. With a desire to build a business from home and take care of her young family, she began painting in her spare time. What started as a small endeavour, with a few sales and commissions, quickly blossomed into something much larger. Camilla’s artwork was soon represented in homeware stores and galleries, and her following began to grow.
Her distinctive style, characterized by bold, well-constructed colour palettes, intricate layering, and spontaneous brushstrokes, captured the attention of collectors and art enthusiasts alike. With the rise of social media, Camilla’s work found new buyers from across Australia and around the world, further fueling her creative journey.
Drawing on her background as a Textile Designer, Camilla has a unique understanding of colour and texture, which she seamlessly integrates into her acrylic paintings. Her pieces evoke a sense of joy, reflecting her positive and playful personality, and have become beloved additions to homes worldwide.
Today, working from her studio in Melbourne, Camilla continues to expand her creative practice, attracting a growing and diverse clientele. Her artwork speaks to the heart, infusing spaces with warmth, energy, and vibrant expression.
