Dorothy Compton

Artists Statement

Dorothy’s paintings are inspired by nature, trips to the outback, coast, bush and the country surrounding her. The simplicity and patterns of nature is a constant source of inspiration. Seeking atmosphere through light and colour in varying degrees of abstraction. The never ending changes of moods excites and touches her soul. Dorothy was born in Barmera, S.A. Her childhood was filled with adventure, living in South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales. She loves nature and appreciates the continual inspiration it gives to her art work. She works in watercolour, charcoal, acrylic and oil. She lives in an old wooden church at Cessnock, NSW. To hone her craft Dorothy obtained as a Fine Art Diploma, Certificate 1V in Fine Art and participated in many lessons from Professional Artists. Dorothy has participated since 1990 throughout Newcastle, Central Coast, Hunter Valley, Sydney with group and solo exhibitions in the Hunter Valley. She has won many awards and continues to exhibit. She has been hung in the Australian Watercolour Institute Exhibition.
